Even More Peonies...

Wow! More and more peonies...it's wonderful to me how many people are just as in love with this flower as I am! I cannot get enough of them...in all colors...and all shapes and sizes!

Here is another cake topper made with an open peony and bud, hydrangeas, filler flowers and buds, and lots of luscious green leaves. I have worked with this color palette before, and really love it! Peaches, pinks, greens and creamy-white...all set against a background of dark chocolate:

Spring Dream

With all of the cold weather swirling around the country over the past few weeks, I couldn't help but jump at the chance to create a little cake to help me dream about the arrival of Spring:

I started with a frilly white peony, gardenias, freesia buds, sweet peas and hydrangea:

Then I added a little bit of green and yellow ribbon, and mixed well with the creamy white flowers...then gave it a chance to sit prettily on a grassy-green ceramic cake stand:

Happy Spring dreams, and thank you for stopping by!

Something Blue

The project I was working on this past week was a floral cake topper - created with a variety of sugarpaste flowers, and arranged on a dome of Styrofoam to make a bouquet. The flowers included white peonies, green and blue hydrangea, white sweet peas and freesia, filler flowers, buds and leaves. Lots of little pieces in this one!

Here are a few photos of the flowers when I first made them, but had not yet started the dusting and coloring process:

I wanted to add a little bit of blue, as this topper was designed to be used on the top tier of a large wedding cake, and a subtle "Something Blue" was an important element. A few small bouquets of pale blue hydrangea worked perfectly.

A look from the front of the bouquet - on a piece of Styrofoam for a better photo:

The flowers from the top of the bouquet:

Close-up of some of the flowers...and the topper is on a 6" Styrofoam round so I can get a good feel for how the final top tier might look:
