A Little More Chocolate...

Just wanted to share another design...also with a base of chocolate fondant, and completed with a green and white palette. This was my solution to "tailored AND feminine"!

Initially, I had only the large bouquet of flowers on the top tier, but then felt it needed an additional bouquet to up the romantic and feminine feel of the design! Otherwise, it was looking a bit too formal:

Sugarpaste peony flower and buds, gardenias, freesia buds, hydrangea buds, filler flowers and leaves:

I'm excited to be working on an arrangement for a sugar vase, and some darker colored flowers as well...coming soon! Thanks for stopping by!

Sugarpaste Roses by Petalsweet

I've always loved sugarpaste roses...beautiful and elegant...and perfect for so many occasions. There are so many varieties and gorgeous colors - but sometimes it can be challenging to get the petals and overall shape just right. In fact, when I started working with sugarpaste, many of my mentors and teachers told me that the rose would be one of the simplest flowers to learn, but one of the most difficult to master.

So...I've been practicing...a lot...and thought I would share some of the roses I have created recently. Here is a simple open rose - I might use a bunch of these mixed in with other flowers in a bouquet:

A larger rose with a more vintage feel - I might use this on top of a small cake with some tiny white filler flowers:

And a very large garden rose - I felt this one needed to stand alone on the top of a cake with the addition of only a pair of rose leaves:

It was a lot of fun to make...and I'm looking forward to practicing more...but the next round will include lots of color! More coming soon!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Favorite Colors for Spring II

Now for Part II of some favorite colors for Spring! I recently had the wonderful opportunity to create a cake topper...a beautiful little green ceramic vase filled with sugarpaste flowers. More green and white, but with the addition of a gorgeous shade of purple! Here is a photo of some of the work in progress...some little buds needing color:

And a table full of flowers, petals and leaves:

The finished arrangement in the ceramic vase:

And presented on a set of stacked Styrofoam squares to review proportions for the final cake design - it needs another large tier at the bottom to balance the size of the vase, don't you think?

Thanks for stopping by!

Favorite Colors for Spring Part I

I wanted to post a few of my recent projects to share some of the beautiful colors I am seeing and working with for Spring!

In this post, a little bit of the expected for this time of year...one of my favorite color palettes...the gorgeous and always fresh white-on-white with touches of green!

Here is a little square tier with an over-sized sugarpaste peony flower:

And a larger three tier design, perfect for an early Spring wedding, and decorated with sugarpaste peonies, hydrangea and filler flowers. I love the grosgrain ribbon in Lemongrass:

More of my favorite colors and photos coming soon!
